Server Connection in Studio 2017: "Invalid user name or password" returned.

Hello,

I experience a curious problem.

Trying to log in to a customer SDL Server in Studio 2017, the connection fails and Studio shows a pop up: "Invalid user name or password".

In Multiterm 2017 and in Studio 2015 (I didnt try in Multiterm 2015 yet) I can log in without problems. Through a browser I dont have problems either.

The Multiterm Server login page in my browser shows a version number 12.0.0.0

Is this a bug in Studio 2017?

One other remarkable thing: Studio 2017 changes my username into lowercase, the original user name has mixed lower- and uppercase, see below ...

Trados Studio Edit SDL Server dialog box with server address blurred, port 443, SSL checked, and username 'fluetitsma.jan' in lowercase.

Best Regards,

Jan

  • Hello

Have you been able to resolve this yet or are you still having problems.

For problem resolution (my apologies if this is recapping the basics) I would first be looking at whether the server is available or not

    via FILE-SETUP-SERVERS

Trados Studio screenshot showing the File menu expanded with Setup option highlighted and Servers option indicated by a green arrow.

Then you can see whether that particular server is available

Screenshot of Trados Studio's Servers window showing three server addresses with their status, two are marked as 'Not available' and one as 'Expired'.

Next I would be looking closely at the log in details (server address and user name) as I would generally expect a https address

(but this of course must not always be the case) and USER name.

As you mentioned the 'case' be changed, this could be linked to cookies and remembering an old log in maybe? and which may need deleting.

If this does not work (and the client server is available) then i would suggest resetting your log in credentials.

If you are already set up correctly on the client server- then you should be able to easily change passwords.

Please let me know if (any of) this helps (as this can assist others with similar issues).

  • GS appears to strip out the https:// in the Server Address. I also seem to vaguely remember that it ignores upper/lower case when setting up users. I.e. I set them up as 'FreeLance', they got turned into 'freelance', but it's been a while, so I might remember wrong. That said, we have had intermittent connectivity issues and some were resolved by freelancers upgrading to the latest SP in their respective Studio version (e.g. 2015 SR3). Hope this helps.
