I hope my reply finds you well and safe.
At the moment there are no plans to address this in GroupShare and as best practice we should use hostnames. Thus, the topic of connections via IP is considered a known scenario.
However, if you believe this is a beneficial feature you can post this as an Ideas on this thread:
