How can you prevent Trados to automatically try to connect to a grouphare-server when opening Trados?

Hello,

When I open Trados Studio 2019, Trados tries to connect to a groupshare-server of one on my clients.

As the server of this client is down which is really bad luck, Trados cannot connect to this groupshare-server.

However, this should not prevent me from working in Trados, as I just want to work on a local project  -  a project which has nothing to do with the groupshare-server of the other client.

As Trados keeps insisting to connect to this grouspshare-server, I went to File/Setup/Servers, and deleted the groupshare-server in question from the list.

However, even though the server is no longer in the list, when I open Trados Studio, it still tries to connect to it and I can't work on my local project.

Does anyone know what I can do? Thank you!

  • Hi

    A few options:

    1. Try avoid the GroupShare projects from being listed

Its likely your default setting is to show all projects.
Lets change that to Standard projects or Single file projects.

Trados Studio Projects filter dropdown menu with 'Show all projects' selected and other options like 'Standard projects' and 'Single file projects' listed.

GroupShare projects will still be "active" in Studio but remain hidden

    2. Physically Remove

You could filter for all the GroupShare projects, right click and select remove

Trados Studio Projects section with 'Type' filter dropdown menu showing 'Trados GroupShare projects' selected and an arrow pointing to 'Remove from List' option.

This will remove them from Studio so they are no longer listed, but it will not physically remove the data.
The project folders and files stored within their allocated location will remain, as the command was to remove not to delete

Projects can easily be restored by then selecting Open Project and browse for the project in question

    Other bits of information:

If you have project templates, project settings that is linked to the GroupShare instance then it would be a case of removing it as you go along.
There is no feature by which all settings are listed to then review which of them have this connection.

If you do rely on Project Templates you can try go to File - Setup - Templates
Then edit each one to remove the GroupShare access but this will not impact current active projects

Trados Studio Project Templates window showing a list of templates with 'Edit' and 'Remove' options, and an arrow pointing to the 'Edit' button for a template named 'TQA_LISA_QA_Model'.

Hope this helps a bit although non of what you expressed sounds ideal
