The issue you are experiencing is documented in the article below:

The workaround is to Cancel your Checkout with Keep Local Changes then Check out and Check In once again. The version should not be blocked anymore.

Thanks Radu, I did try that and several other solutions suggested but none of them worked, In tthe end, the company reset my whole membership of the platform, and that seemed to fix the problem.
