Compatibility with Trados Studio 2017 and 2019

Can someone clarify the following chart in the installation guide for Groupshare 2020 SR2?
When it says "NO", does that mean it is not officially supported but still can connect?
I currently have Trados Studio 2017 users that connect and use Groupshare 2020 and I need to know whether they will be affected if I upgrade to SR2.

Compatibility chart for Trados GroupShare 2020 SR2 with Trados Studio and MultiTerm versions. Includes supported versions and notes for unsupported versions highlighted in yellow.

  • Dear Jesse,

Thank you for raising this question with us. I first want to apologize for this a bit late reply.

The screenshot you attached is taken from the Trados GroupShare Installation Documentation: https://docs.rws.com/api/binary/1160456/788201.

All the 2021 + desktop applications, Trados Studio and Multiterm, are shown as Supported - can connect and can work in/with Trados GroupShare resources. Older than 2021 version are shown as Not Supported: this means that these versions should not be able to connect - even if, in some situations, this still works. If it still works, the full-functionality might not be reached, like some actions or modules might not successfully connect/update and so on. Not to mention that these applications are already out-of-support.

My suggestion is to update, where possible, to the newest releases like the 2024 versions of Trados Studio and Multiterm.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards
