I have tried on 2 different computers using Windows 7 and Windows 10 to no avail. I am assured the username and password are correct as I can access the projects via groupshare and select the correct project and open the package but when I look at the file in studio there is an orange lock to the left of the xliff and it says checked out to 'anonymous user', and on the right. The Local State is 'not downloaded' too if that helps.

I'm unable to (as advised) right-click and select check out as the option is greyed out and if I double click the xliff I get a window saying cannot check the file out as it is already checked out by another user (which it isn't).

The client knows what they are doing so I'm sure everything is correctly setup on their side, and other translators are having no problems.

The last thing that may help is the projects come with a pdf and an xliff and they say some problems have been attributed to the inclusion of a pdf.

Any ideas?
