User data import into GroupShare server

Dear GroupShare users, please share your knowledge on this topic.

The possibility to set up LDAP Server to import users from it into our server is very tempting, however there is not much information in the GroupShare installation manual on how to correctly set up the LDAP Server and how to structure the data for it to be possible to be correctly interpreted by the User Import Tool. Has anybody tried it already?

Thank you!

The user import tool makes it easier to import users from your domain without the need to do a manual work. Basically instead of creating users, manually in GroupShare (User Management) you can use this tool to import all users from your domain and directly set them in GroupShare.
This tool works, based on the user that was set-up to run the SDL Services. If this user is in a domain, the User Import Tool will detect the same domain and allow you to add multiple users.

The server application ( GroupShare) needed a Windows user account so that it can log on at run time. If you are in a Windows domain, you probably defined a domain wide user account for this purpose, not a local user account.
In the installation guide please check "Recommendation: use a Windows domain account"

    Hope this helps.
