Passolo Machine Translate using LanguageWeaver

Hi,

We have a LW licence - TEAM Yearly subscription.

I want to use it to translate a project in Passolo Team 2018.

I downloaded and installed the "Auto Translation" Add-in - v18.0.178.0

I ensured the add-in is loaded.

When I setup the Add-in I login using the same user/password credentials as I use to access my LW account via a browser.

I used "Edit Settings" to ensure the language pairs I want are enabled.

When performing a Pretranslate, I ensure the settings for Pretranslate has the "allow automatic translation" checkbox ticked.

When the PT ends, it has not performed a MT, nor has it reported anything in the messages window.

Can someone show me where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

Mark

  • I quickly did some tests. First, I was wondering that you installed the Auto-Translation Add-In. Why and how did you do it? The Auto-Translation Add-in is part of the standard installation and no further installation is necessary. I did my tests with v18.0.192.0 which is the latest CU of Passolo 2018. I repeated the settings you described and was able to properly do a pre-translation:

Screenshot of the Passolo 2018 interface showing a table with translation data. Columns include 'Nummer', 'ID', 'Status', 'Englisch (USA)', 'Deutsch (Deutschland)', 'Konkordanz', 'Match', and 'Herkunft'. Rows display translation entries with statuses like 'vor bers.' and match percentages. Some entries are highlighted in red, indicating untranslated or problematic items.

So if it doesn't work on your end, it might have a different reason. If it still doesn't work, you may need to log a case into our support portal at https://gateway.rws.com/

  • Sorry for the extra long time in getting back for this.

I ended up creating a support ticket.

Adrian from support did some detailed checking and it turned out to be config.

Basically, on our LW account, I regenerated the Client Secret key (I did this to config a program I wrote for using Trados Studio to do MTs using LW).

I had not realised that the account we have on eu.cloud.trados.com needs to have it's Client Secret updating too.

Apparently the default behaviour if the key does not match is to only to allow the Baseline model to be used, but the Baseline model is no longer available.

I guess it would have been "nice" to have Passolo pretrans tell me this, but I have made a note in case I regenerate the secret key again.

    Thanks
