Are there any experience sharing/best practices on Query handling during Passolo translation process?

Normally when our translator want to ask a quesion during Passolo translation workflow, translator has to stop translation work, go away from Passolo, open an excel file or log into a online system to submit a query. Translator needs to switch between translation workflow and query workflow frequently. It is not so efficient.

Recently, we want to create a Passolo plug-in(Macro?) to allow translator to submit a query direclty in Passolo instead of logging a query outside of Passolo.

Our idea: Translator can click one button or use a short key combination to input his/her question in a popup window and all other required info (e.g. source file path, string ID, EN source string etc.) can be collected automatically instead of mannual copy/paste effort. The plug-in can put a query to an external excel template report file which can be imported to our online query system easily later.

We want to check Passolo User Community now:

Did anyone have any experience/best practice sharing on how to handle a query in a better way during Passolo translation process in you previous project work?

Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback and input!

  • There are several ways on how user can deal with translator queries.
    a) I know clients that are just using the inbuilt Task feature. Translator can add a task to each text entry and insert the query. When the bundle is imported back into the main project the project manager can add new comments for all translators.
    b) Clients that are have a centralized query management can use macros and/or the SDK to interface with it as you already described
    c) There are web based query management systems like SDL smartQuery that can be used. Actually there is no direct interface between smartQuery and Passolo but using the technology above implementing such an interface would not be any problem.
