deepl plugin in Trados 2017

Hi everybody,

I downloaded the Trados 2017 Deepl plugin. The first time, the downloaded file turned out to ben a zip file. I unzipped it: it was a folder containing many files. None of them was an installation wizard. I followed the paths suggested in some SDL forums (Windows-> Users-> Username->AppData, etc.). No result. Then I found some further suggestions. I got back to SDL appstore, I downloaded the 2017 deepl plugin again. This time it was a single file (.sdlplugin extension). I placed it directly in the "Packages folder", as I was suggested to do, but when I start Trados 2017 I get an error message and no Deepl is to be found in the relevant dropdown menu. Of course, I have an Trados 2017 paid license and also a paid Deepl Pro subscription. And I updated my Trados 2017.
I tried every single bit of suggestion, but with no result. Can anybody help me?

Thank you so much in advance!
Barbara

  • I moved your post into the correct forum...

The first time, the downloaded file turned out to ben a zip file.

Very odd... we never have these sdlplugin files as zip files.  Maybe a problem with your browser, or something like that?

This time it was a single file (.sdlplugin extension). I placed it directly in the "Packages folder", as I was suggested to do

The way to install these plugins is to double click them and the plugin installer will put them in the right place.  Doing this manually is usually a last resort to get around an installation problem.

but when I start Trados 2017 I get an error message and no Deepl is to be found in the relevant dropdown menu.

So what's the error message?  This would be helpful.

Of course, I have an Trados 2017 paid license and also a paid Deepl Pro subscription. And I updated my Trados 2017.

So what version do you have installed?  You should have:

    SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.10018.54792
