I'm trying to wrap my brain around this but I'm getting conflicting information it seems. Do I just install the free Language Weaver and/or OpenAI apps? Because one webinar said you have to buy Trados Enterprise or Accelerate to be able to use AI in your workflow. Also, are my data secure or not? The same webinar first said no it's not secure, then later it said yes the data are secure and are not shared. Clearly I'm missing something.
I found some more documentation. I have Trados 2024, so it seems the Language Weaver & OpenAI apps are already installed by default, and my next step would be to get an OpenAI subscription, is that correct?
Sorry that nobody responded to your posts! Yes, you are correct, OpenAI is part of Trados 2024, and all you need is a paid OpenAI account with API credits or a Microsoft Azure account with OpenAI enabled, but the latter is way more complicated.
OpenAI claims it is not using data transmitted via the API, and if you believe that then your data is fairly safe. Most of what I translate is going to be published anyway, so I hardly care, but if you translate more sensitive content then I would think twice.
RWS/Trados never gets the data you send. It goes straight to the AI provider and back from there.
