Sometimes my customers send me an american TM and british sdlxliff and so I use AnyTM. But is this setting in any sens inferior to a regular TM setting? I can see the problem working with different source languages.

Hello Knut Atle Klausen,
The AnyTM feature allows you to optimally leverage your TMs. Unlike the standard behavior of TMs in SDL Trados Studio, with the AnyTM provider you can leverage any TM, regardless of whether its source and target languages match the languages of your translation project.
One way of working, is to keep a separate TM for every specific source and target language. In that case, you would always use the TM with the matching languages as the main TM in your project, to which you add any new translations you create in those languages. In addition to this, you would use AnyTM to add one or more TMs in other languages as reference to the project, with the Update checkbox cleared, to ensure that you only leverage from those TMs, but not update them with mismatching content.
