How to add an AdaptiveMT model in a language variant and pricing of subscriptions

I am performing some tests with SDL Language Cloud AdaptiveMT.

I have a project in UK English and everything works. However, if I create a project in US English, no AdaptiveMT model is available to be added to the project.

1) How do I add AdaptiveMT to a Trados Studio project in US English? Would this be another subscription option? If so, how can it be activated? I see no obvious means of doing this in my language cloud account.

2) I see that my subscription entitles me to 500,000 characters of MT output monthly. But what happens when this runs out? I have connected to my language cloud account and can see no information about how to move beyond the free subscription or the pricing for this.

If anyone can answer these two questions I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Neil

  • Very weird. I installed the app, then checked language cloud and there was the generic NMT engine in a US language target project! Without going through the credentials step for the app.

So I uninstalled the app but it still seems ok. Initially, the screen to add the NMT engine was just blank with nothing available in US English target projects.

So whatever the problem was, it seems ok now.

    Thanks.

  • I know what happened. Sometimes, for some reason, no NMT engine is shown when you try to add one. Then if you close Studio and open it up again, the NMT engine is now available.

It just happened again when preparing a different project.

It's not a problem as long as you know what to do when it happens.

    Another digital mystery :-)

    Have a nice weekend.

  • Glad to hear it... you might find the app useful though for a few reasons, even if you don't have an Enterprise account:

    1. it logs in faster if you're already logged into Studio

    2. you can map the languages to anything you want

The latter can be useful if the variant you are using doesn't have an NMT engine because you can just tell it to use a language that does!
