I assume you mean where does the translation come from rather than the "content"?  If you are using SDL Machine translation rather than any other engine you have used then it is of course exactly the same as the SDL Machine Translation you get in Studio.  There is also a very nice video series from Iconic (one of the solutions from RWS that SDL now belong to) on Neural Machine Translation and how it works:

If you are using SDL Machine Translation from SDL then the answer is we keep the source content you send to us long enough to be able to return the translation.  After that we discard it.  If you have a paid for account then we can retain the source and target original and also show the changes made as part of a quality evaluation process that is available for you to see at any time.  Looks like this (ignore the actual changes as I don't know what I'm doing!):

This is because we do have the possibility for you to score and evaluate the translations being provided if you have a paid account.  This can be done in the web feature as well as in Studio.  You can also read more on this here:

When it comes to SDL Machine Translation we do not have one.  "Adaptive translation" in the way you probably mean it was only available with the old SMT engines.  It will probably come back in the future, but for now it's not available at all.  Only way to achieve "adapted" machine translation is by training the engines from your translation memories, or by using machine translation dictionaries or branding.  These plans are available through your account manager... which essentially means they are not typically made available to freelance translators.
