Problems in Running batch tasks: Export for Bilingual Review

Hi all,

I don't know whether it is related or not to the maintenance of this last Saturday, nor even if it's related to the problem with the message "connection timeout error" (that was just resolved, (if someone is here and wants the link, https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000015275).

It's the second project, from this weekend, that I just can't export the bilingual files. I had to use another CAT tool in order to get these bilinguals, but I'd like to solve this problem in order to keep using it only in Studio. (In my case, v. 2019).

Can anyone help me, please?

  • Just an edit here: I tried yesterday, late evening, to export the bilingual files and I could do it without problems. I received a package, couldn't open it, had to open it in another CAT tool, export the xliffs, then put in Trados to work. Maybe it was just a problem in the package, I really couldn't understand. Nonetheless, it seemed a temporary thing. Just leaving here some hints on what people can do in case they have any problems like this in the future.

    I would love to give you tips to give you some hope in the midst of things not working as they should.

    But as you have given no error message I would be guessing. I am assuming you would have received an error when trying to run the export?
    Perhaps you can recall what was the behaviour of Trados Studio so I can try narrow down tips & tricks.

    Without knowing more I would see if I could:
    1, save source as
    2. recreate *.sdlxliff file
    3. reapply TM

    In future please try give error or detail of what is happening.

    BUT.... you did update your notes to say something about packages.
    Such details change responses and as you say lead to possible roots of your issues which need to be explored.

    Next time you have a package that is not behaving as it should take try the following:


    1. add .zip to the end of the package
    2. Open in Windows explore / unzip
    3. Access files
    4. Create new project / open files in Studio 
    5. Reapply TM
    6. Save file as target
    7. Send off to client 

    Hope the issue resolved its self and you dont get it again

  • Hi Lydia! First of all, thanks for answering me, this could be another way of getting it solved. 

    In fact, I had talked about not being able to export bilinguals and also about packages: I had forgot though to mention that I was referring to two not so different situations.

    The first is related to a project I was working on during last weekend. After receiving the package, I could open it normally, then worked on it, and by the time of exporting files for bilingual revision, this was the message I received: 

    Trados Studio Batch Processing window with an error message 'Export for Bilingual Review - 35 message(s) reported' and an Error 1316 warning icon.

    The 35 files I had to convert to bilingual wouldn't be converted at all! Even though, the package and all the other logs for revision worked completely fine, I could not get the bilinguals, only that. By the way, at the same time, the message about:

    Trados Studio error dialog box displaying 'There was a connection timeout error. Please check your network and internet connections.' with a red cross icon.

    was popping out and I couldn't understand why, as it seemed everything else was going fine... Anyway, following that project, on Monday I had another project to work on, and for that one, it was impossible to open the package!

    It says that the "access to the path... is denied". The project manager, for this case, even sent me another package, that wouldn't work either. So I had this idea to opening in another CAT tool, export the sdlxliffs, create another project and run it like this. Strange thing: I could later export the bilinguals! Sweat smile

    Well... one of those mysteries of life! Joy The important thing is that everything went well at the end.
