Storing translations in SDL Cloud

Is it possible to customize and store updated translations on a given engine when working in SDL Cloud? Can anyone access this "personal" engine? Thank you!

  • Hi Carina,

Firstly you need to have a subscription which allows you to upload "dictionaries". If you're currently on the "Free" package then I'm afraid this isn't included. Basic/Advanced/Expert packages all allow you to create a dictionary as does the Trial. Once you've got a suitable package then you can visit https://cxc-languagecloud.sdl.com/#app=languagecloud&entry=machine-translation (you'll need to log in if you haven't already done so). Here you can create a new dictionary.

The next step is to have a TBX file with your translated segments in there. The easiest way to do this would be to use SDL MultiTerm to create a terminology database and then load the segments in there. Once you've got all the segments then you can export the terminology in TBX format and go back to SDL Language Cloud to import the TBX file.

    Hope that helps,

    David

  • Hi David,

We've been testing SDL Cloud (Free package), with one engine and one dictionary and noticed that in most cases the tool prioritizes the engine instead of using the results from the glossary. Since the dictionary is customized with our preferences, we'd like that the tool "chooses" these options on the first place, instead of the ones from the engine. In case there's no option from the dictionary, then the option from the engine would follow. Is it possible to set up this on SDL Cloud? In case we have two dictionaries, can we establish an order of priority for these as well?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Carina
