Cannot Connect to Language Weaver from Trados.

We are trying to use Trados NMT in our course in MT post-editing. We have Trados Language Cloud and NMT models are activated. Under my account I can connect to MT via Language Weaver Plugin using my user credentials and everything works.

My colleagues are trying to do the same and cannot connect. They get a following message:

"Unauthorized 401. Code: 54. Message: Unable to generate the access token, Verify your credentials and try again."

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the software version being used and any troubleshooting steps already taken by your colleagues.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems that your colleagues are encountering an "Unauthorized 401" error when trying to connect to Language Weaver from Trados. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

    **Step 1:** Verify Credentials

Ensure that your colleagues are using the correct login credentials for their Language Weaver accounts. They should be able to log in directly to the Language Weaver portal with the same credentials.

    **Step 2:** Check Account Linking

Confirm that their Language Weaver accounts are properly linked to their Trados Live accounts. This is essential for machine translation to function correctly.

    **Step 3:** API Key Generation

If they are using an API Key, they should generate a new one and ensure it is entered correctly in the plugin settings.

    **Step 4:** Network Configuration

Check for any firewalls or network configurations that might be blocking the connection to Language Weaver.

**Step 5:** Reset Trados Studio Settings

If the issue persists, consider resetting the Trados Studio settings. This can be done by renaming the Studio16 folder located at `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16`. After renaming, they can try to reconnect to Language Weaver.

    **Step 6:** Review Language Pairs

Ensure that the correct Language Weaver Edge translation engine is configured and that the necessary language pairs are available.

    **Step 7:** Check for Updates

Make sure that Trados Studio and the Language Weaver plugin are up to date.

By following these steps, your colleagues should be able to troubleshoot the connection issue. If they continue to experience problems, please provide additional details about the software version and any troubleshooting steps they have already taken.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • They do have credentials, the Network works. I cannot check the APIKey Generation and account linking.

I have Trados 2022 on my computer and, as I wrote, I can use MT. The colleague has installed Trados 2024. However, I do not believe this is the reason of the issue.
