trying to open the termbase "Microsoft Terminology Collection Germany" (which I downloaded from the app-store) in Multiterm 2017

Question

I downloaded the 'Microsoft Collection Germany' from the app-store. When I look at the files after I unzipped them they look perfectly normal, but once I try to open them in Multiterm 2017, I get the error-message "Termbase is read only. Operation not allowed." 
 Rightclicking on the file in windows shows the file as not being read-only. 
 Besides I get this message as well: 
 
 I use windows 10 and Multiterm 2017, with no older versions of Studio or Multiterm present on my pc. 
 Any solutions or suggestions are very much appreciated.

Hi Fred, 
 
Could you try the following please: 
 
Locate your termbase file (*.sdltb). 
Right-click on the termbase and choose Properties. 
The Properties dialog for the file opens. 
Find the attribute field Read-only and uncheck it. 
 
Click on Apply to confirm the changes and then OK to close the dialog. 
You are now should able to open the termbase.

Why don't you just download the TBX from the Microsoft website and recreate the termbase yourself. It's be more upto date and will probably work better for you. Piece of cake to convert with the Glossary Converter:
