Cannot open or create termbases in MultiTerm 2017. MultiTerm also causes problems in Studio 2017 when trying to change project settings

Hi,

I cannot open or create any termbase in MultiTerm 2017. The following error messages are received:

On opening an existing termbase: "This termbase cannot be opened because it has been created with an unsupported version of MultiTerm."
On creating a termbase: "MultiTerm is unable to create the termbase."
On clicking on Project Settings of an existing project in Trados Studio 2017: "general massive catastrophic system failure" and the Please wait pop-up window is always displayed (cannot be closed).

My OS is Win 7, SP1 and latest updates installed. I've also reinstalled and repaired MultiTerm - to no avail.

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards

Sandor

  • Hi Sandor,

Please ensure you have the latest version of MultiTerm 2017 and also Studio 2017 installed:

    SDL Trados Studio 2017 - 14.0.5760.1
    SDL MultiTerm 2017 - 14.0.2103.1

If you have these then please try a reset of MultiTerm. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14\

If this doesn't help either then I'd recommend you log a support case as this qualifies as an installation issue. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    http://support.xl8.one

Just fill in the form and submit it. Make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I logged a support case but SDL Support will not help, as they wrote: "The described issues are not Installation and Licensing requests and as you do not have a valid PSMA Support contract I’m afraid that we are not in a position to respond to your request."

What else can I do now?

    Regards
