Glossary plugin and virtual machine

Hello All,

I am using Studio 2017 on a virtual machine (Win7 on Mac). I installed the Glossary Plugin, and every time I hit the GC button, I get an Invalid procedure call or argument message. The following message says it cannot find Excel. I also downloaded the Glossary Converter, but there are also errors generated with that...

Would anyone have a suggestion?

I am adding my Excel file.lexiqueIFB.xlsx

TIA,

François

  • Dear Evzen,

There's something I think I must tell you, as a colleague and hopefully a friend.

I am wondering, maybe you do not know that"'Okay, then you should have read the Glossary Converter help, this Excel issue is described there" sounds very critical to an English reader? Maybe it was not meant that way.

François came to ask for help because he did not know where to find an answer himself. That was the logical thing to do and whoever chooses to answer a problem large or small is generally doing it because they want to help. It is their choice to answer, regardless of whether the information could have been found elsewhere.

I believe that many people who take part in these forums are doing it to learn from each other and help each other, it's a two-way street. We don't expect even the most experienced users to 'know everything' (or in my case, 'remember everything I've learned over many years') and we all have gaps in our learning, at whatever level we perceive ourselves to be.

Just knowing I have forgotten something simple makes me embarrassed. I think I would feel very upset if, when I asked for help, I received a critical answer that made me feel stupid. I would certainly give up asking for help. That is not what I or anyone who likes helping others would want.

I am sure that Paul is very pleased to have been able to solve this actually relatively unusual problem for François. This software is amazingly complex and long-term users forget how hard it is to get to know it properly even on a PC, let alone on a Mac. Bon courage  !

Enjoy the rest of your day guys!

    Ali :)
