Is it possible to export various entries at once from MT?

Hello everyone:  

While having 2 termbases in a project and needing to continuously switch the default TB in order to enter terms in the correct one (error-prone process), it seems like at one point I failed to make the switch and ended up with 'quite a few' entries in the wrong TB. Is there a way to select ALL the entries in question and export them all at once?  I only know of the File > Export option that allows to export entries one by one.

In case it matters, the 2 termbases reside on a server; each TB has around 5,000 entries. I have both MT 2015 and MT 2017.

  • As a follow up to this question I posted yesterday, I wanted to share how I solved this. As you will see I went through a lot of steps, so if there is any other way to do this, I would appreciate the info.

    Scenario: My project had TB1 containing all the project terminology and TB2 containing exclusively field names WrittenAsCompoundWords. To enter terms into the corresponding TB during translation, I had to constantly switch btwn TBs by going to Project Settings > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Termbases and then selecting and ‘moving up’ the proper TB to make it the default. The project is huge, so I decided to enter terminology on the go, instead of concentrating on the task all at once at the end of the translation. But, I forgot to do this switch at some point and several field names ended up in the wrong TB (TB1). To add them to the right TB (TB2) I did the following:
    In TB1:
    1) I created a filter, using the date range of the project, to identify ALL entries created during that time frame.
    2) Created and export definition (Termbase Management > Export) and applied this filter to it. This process generated an XML with the entries created during this particular project.
    3) I then created a ‘local TB’ and imported this XML into it. Then put this localTB through Glossary Converter to generate an Excel.
    4) In this Excel I manually ‘DELETED’ the regular terminology entries belonging to TB1 and only left the field names WrittenAsCompundWords that belong in TB2.
    5) The cleaned up Excel (now containing only the terms I need in TB2) was processed again through Glossary Converter to generate another ‘localTB’, which I then exported in its entirety. The XML generated on this step 5 was then imported into TB2.

    So now, after this convoluted process, I finally have the field names WrittenAsCompoundWords in the correct termbase TB2. But, I still have them also in the incorrect termbase TB1.

    To delete the terms from the incorrect TB1 I did the following:
    1) I applied in TB1 the filter mentioned in step 1 above and then manually scrolled down and deleted the terms one-by-one. Needless to say, this was very time consuming.

    I appreciate any comments any of you might have.
