SDL Multiterm 2017 Desktop - cannot edit existing TB (empty page and no errors)

I can open the TB and READ it but if I try to add a new entry the page gets blank like this below. I can see the tab [...] for the new entry but cannot see anything else to be able to actually populate this entry.

The same happens if I try to edit an existing entry, as soon as I press F2 the page gets blank. No errors anywhere.

I know 2017 version no longer uses Java but since the TB may be a legacy one I downloaded the latest Java version, but Multiterm still does not work.

anyone can help?

  • Hi Chiara,

Is this happening with just one termbase? If so, have you tried reorganising the termbase?
To do this, open the termbase in MultiTerm then click on Termbase Management (bottom left of MT window) then select Reorganise in the top toolbar.
Click through the Wizard (OK > Next > Finish > Close) then close MultiTerm.

If this is happening with all termbases, you could try a Windows Repair on MultiTerm. Here's how:

    Close all SDL applications.
    Open the Control Panel:
Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features.
Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados MultiTerm 2017 SR1 Desktop) and click Repair. I usually repair all components.
    Restart and close MultiTerm.

If that doesn't help, reset the MultiTerm software as follows:
Rename the folder 'MultiTerm14' in this folder (written as for Win10):
    C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm
Then open a termbase in MultiTerm and a new folder will be created. You can delete the old one (or just delete it in the first place but most folk don't like doing that).

If this doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling MultiTerm completely.

Hope one of these solutions works for you!
    All the best
    Alison
