Multiterm loading time

After clicking on the "Open Termbase" option in MultiTerm 2017, the termbase list takes way to long to load. Why is that? Is there a way to improve the loading time? Also, the list of termbases is not arranged by alphabetical order. Is there a way to solve it?

  • Hi

There isn't a UI to change the order of the termbases in MultiTerm when you have the Open Termbase window.  However there are two ways to change the order I can think of.

    Method #1

    1. Delete the usersettings.xml here - c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14\UserSettings.xml
    2. Then start Studio and add them back in the order you wish

    Method #2

    1. Edit the usersettings.xml here: c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14\UserSettings.xml
    2. Use a text editor to open the file and you'll find enties like these:
      <SettingsGroup Id="Termbase 1"> and <SettingsGroup Id="Termbase 2"> etc.
    3. The numbers in red above relate to the position of the termbase in the Open Termbase dialogue.  So if you change the numbers to suit the way you'd prefer to see the termbases listed, then save and close the file, then when you restart Multiterm the order will have changed

Not sure if anyone has any other bright ideas?
