Multiterm does not work any more.

Question

It used to work well, but all of a sudden I got the message:"Multiterm does not work any more". Reports are then sent to Microsoft and I can close the program. I have removed and reinstalled it, downloaded the program again from sdl site and reinstalled it, but I keep getting this error message. When I try to open it by clicking on an existing termbase file, I get the same message. When I add a term via Studio however, there seems to be no problem, I can add and save new terms. 
 Does anyone have an idea what can be done?

Hi Rita Depuydt, 
 Please try running a Windows Repair of MultiTerm - and then of Studio - via Control Panel. 
 You don't say which version of MultiTerm you're using so in these instructions I have assumed it is MultiTerm 2017... 
 - Close all SDL applications. 
 Open the Control Panel: 
 Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. 
 Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program. 
 Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features. 
 Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados MultiTerm 2017 SR1 Desktop) and click Repair. 
 Restart MultiTerm. 
 I actually repair all 4 components of MultiTerm periodically - Desktop, Core, Convert and Word Integration. Then I repair Studio. It's worth the time it takes, especially after a Windows automatic update. 
 If that doesn't work, reset MultiTerm after you've run a Windows Repair on it, rename the folder 'MultiTerm14' (or whichever is the highest number) here: 
 C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm 
 
 Then open a termbase in MultiTerm and a new folder will be created. You can delete the old one (or just delete it in the first place but most folk don't like doing that).
