Terms not fully loading after upgrade to 2017

Just upgraded to 2017 and I'm having a strange issue with MultiTerm. It connects alright to Studio but the terms don't seem to load properly. So let's say I have a string like this to translate:

Draw a vertical freehand line

If I move into the translation field in Studio, it is now regularly happening that I will get (for example) MultiTerm matches for "draw" and "line" but not "vertical" or "freehand" even though the terms are there. If I move out of the cell, for instance with the up arrow, and then back into the cell, then suddenly all matches appear as expected.

First I thought this was an issue caused by the new Fragment Matches feature but after disabling it (yes, I re-started Studio), I'm still getting this problem with not all terms loading.

The only think I can think of is that it might be related to the Failed to initialize view 'MultiTerm.Studio.EditorView error which I can't seem to shake fully. I've tried re-installing MultiTerm but that doesn't seem to have worked.

  • Hi ,

    To delete the index files.
    - when you open a termbase by double clicking the *.sdltb this creates a load of other files (I called these index files). Just delete them all. You only need to keep the sdltb and when you double click it again the other files will be recreated.

  • Hi Paul

Hm that didn't go so well. Deleting the index files seemed to have a positive impact but the moment I added a new term, it all went back to the way it was. I'll try this again but if it comes back after every modification of the tb, that's not idea.

Way worse was the "reorganisation", which seemed to go through ok with no error message but during translation I suddenly got "truncated" entries in the MT panel which I knew had source and target in the tb before the reorganisation:

Trados Studio screenshot showing truncated entries in the MT panel with the terms 'learn more', 'barrachd fiosrachaidh', 'fas nas eolaiche air', and 'learn'.

When I tried to fix one of these, I suddenly got this error:

Trados Studio error message pop-up saying 'This term already exists in the termbase. Do you want to merge the entries?' with options 'Duplicate' and 'Merge'.

At which point I just deleted the reorganised tb and grabbed last night's backup.

UPDATE: Even though I upgraded my tb months ago, this episode seems to have thrown MT back into the "old" mode (where F12 saves a new entry etc). I'm also not getting any improvement on the MT issue by having deleted the index files. I'm really beginning to get rather unhappy about Studio not running basic functionalities smoothly, it's not like I'm trying to do anything fancy.
