Importing XML termbase with xcd as definition file?

Hello

I am a newbie starting work on my first translation project using Studio 2017. My client has sent me a termbase in XML format and, when I asked for the definition file, they provided an xcd file. I have tried creating a new termbase using the xcd file as a template and then importing the xml termbase but the result is a grand total of 0 terms! Is the xcd file the wrong thing for this? Any help will be gratefully received.

  • Hi ,

The XCD file is a settings file for MultiTerm Convert so this is probably what they use to generate the XML in the first place. When they did this they should have also got an XDT so perhaps it's just worth asking them if they have the XDT as you need this to be able to create the termbase as they intended it to be used.

On the otherhand you could just drop the XML into the Glossary Converter and see how complex the XML structure is. If it's simple them perhaps you can pick out what you need to be able to import it into your own termbase?
