MultiTerm 2017 – error after the update to build 14.2.6.23267

When I try to edit entries in MultiTerm from inside Studio, I get a script error (see picture). It is not affecting the functionality, i.e. the entry can be edited and saved, but it is annoying to see this error message every time.

This error does not appear when I edit entries in MultiTerm directly.

  • Hi All,

It has been suggested before that uninstalling CU6 prevented this script error. This was not the case for me. I have now, thanks to discovered why.

The way to prevent this script error completely is to first turn off updates completely in MultiTerm itself via Help > Updates, then uninstall Cumulative Update 6 (CU6) for both MultiTerm 2017 Core and MultiTerm 2017 Desktop here:

Screenshot of the 'Programs and Features' window showing a list of installed programs, with MultiTerm 2017 Core and MultiTerm 2017 Desktop highlighted.

Screenshot of the Windows Control Panel with 'Programs and Features' highlighted, indicating the path to access installed updates.

Then, only Cumulative Update 5 should remain, as here:

Screenshot of the 'Installed Updates' window showing a list of updates, with Cumulative Update 6 for MultiTerm 2017 Core and Desktop highlighted.

I had uninstalled CU6 but with semi-automatic updates still turned on. Thus, MultiTerm had downloaded the update and even though I clicked 'Cancel' when it was offered, it somehow was applied in the background.

I don't normally condone turning off automatic updates but this time I was wrong...

    All the best,

    Ali :)
