Can't add a new term - Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Question

My Multiterm was working until recently, but now whenever I try to add a term in Multiterm from Studio, I get the error message - Object reference not set to an instance of an object (I can directly enter a new term from Multiterm 2017 but I cannot use "Add new term" function in Trados Studio 2017). I tried various suggestions (e.g. Deleted 'MultiTerm14' folder, checked the version, reinstalled both Studio and Multiterm, ran SDL Java Cleanup, pin/unpin windows, etc.) but none of them helped. How can I resolve this issue? Any suggestions?

 It sounds as if you've tried everything that could normally resolve the issue. 
 As you've tried reinstalling and you can get free help with installation issues that are preventing you from working, pretty fast, please fill in the form here: 
 installation and licensing help 
 Select 'Installation' from the 'Case type' dropdown and tell them that the problems occurred after installation and, most importantly, give your correct email address so that they can contact you.
