I would first check that both Studio and MultiTerm are both updated to the latest versions-

Once of the reasons in the past for slow verification- was the MS Word Grammar Checker app- so it might be worth disabling this if you have it installed.

(Project settings>Verification).

Also ensuring that both Studio and MultiTerm are whitelisted in your AntiVirus may help.

I'm on the most current versions of both Studio 2017 and Multiterm 2017. All other languages take between 20-40 seconds, with the exception of Chinese - it took 35 minutes. I do not find MS Word Grammar Checker in the Verification settings. There are a total of 2718 total words in the bilingual file. Do you have any other suggestions?

What happens if you create your termbase with only the language pair you need?  How long does that take?  It would be worth seeing whether the termbase, as it is, is really at fault here.
