There is no problem doing this, but there are advantages to not doing it, and instead create an attribute o the terms to define whether it's US or UK English.  This might be helpful:

Sorry for the slow response - things have gotten rather "interesting" here.

We had a protestor shot by a bar owner 3 blocks from my house, and the County Attorney has released the killer without charges, so things are very hot here in usually oh-so-calm Omaha.

I have started to become active in the protests myself, naturally.

Ah....memories of '89 in Berlin, '91 and '93 in Moscow ... how I love the breezes of the Zeitgeist!
