How to set up Excel for termbase picklist?

If I have a term that contains multiple values in a picklist e.g. the term "finger" with picklist values  "hand" and "body" under a "Tags" picklist field, how do I set up my Excel sheet so that the Glossary Converter recognizes that the term has multiple picklist values?

  • The easiest way to see how to do this is to convert the termbase you already created with a picklist and see what it looks like.

You should note that if you are creating a termbase like this, using the Glossary Converter, then you need to pay attention to what you're trying to do because the spreadsheet might not actually contain all the picklist items you need in the actual termbase.  So if you intend to add to it later the definition might not contain everything you need.  So when doing this I would do the following:

    1. create the termbase in MultiTerm so the definition contains all the configuration you need
    2. convert your termbase to MultiTerm xdt +xml just to get the full fields into the Glossary Converter settings (just a time saver)
    3. convert your Excel to MultiTerm xdt +xml
    4. import your xml through MultiTerm
    5. repeat from 3. whenever you have updates from Excel
