Termbase search, 'no results available'

Hello, I have Trados Studio 2017 Freelance. I created a new project today and no terms are showing in the term window (and it states 'no results available'). I've updated to the latest version of Multiterm and am on the latest Studio 2017 version. I've reorganized the termbase several times and run a couple of reboots. I also tried following the instructions to repair the program through Windows here: https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001414 but I can only see the 'uninstall' option from 'Apps & features'. What else can I try, please?

  • Hi

Are you clicking on the 'Remove suite of products' entry under "Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features"?

Control Panel Programs and Features window showing a list of SDL products including Trados Studio 2017 with options to Uninstall or Change.

If so, click on the Studio 2017 entry and you should then see either Uninstall and Repair on the top toolbar or on the right-click dropdown menu or a single entry "Uninstall/Change" > Yes, then choose Repair from the next dialog:

SDL Chainer dialog box asking if the user wants to Uninstall or Repair the application with three buttons: Uninstall, Repair, Cancel.

As you'll see, I don't have 2017 installed (everything but) and the entries on the toolbar changed between 2015 and 2019 versions so I don't know which you're seeing.

Alternatively, are you looking at the program via "Settings > Apps > Apps & Features"?

Windows Settings Apps & features screen displaying a list of SDL Trados products with options to Modify or Uninstall.

Some programs can be prepared in this newer app handling feature, via > Advanced settings, but SDLs products can't.

However, if you scroll down you will find 'Related settings' below which there is a shortcut "Programs and Features':

Windows Settings Apps & features screen with a list of various applications and a 'Related settings' section highlighting 'Programs and Features' link.

Click on that and it will bring you to the settings dialog that I've posted an image of at the top of this post.

That is where you'll be able to repair Studio - I would also repair MultiTerm too, possibly first.

I hope that solves your problem. If not, post again and I'm sure ,   or another SDL professional will be able to take a closer look.

    All the best,

  • Dear Ali, thank you so much for your help and I'm very sorry for not replying sooner, I'm afraid I had to be away from my desk. Indeed I had been following the incorrect path since from my Windows 10, right clicking on Start doesn't bring up the option of Control Panel. I've now tried what you suggested and I'm afraid the problem remains. Are  or  available to look into this, please?
I'm hoping to purchase Studio 2021 soon.
