Importing an excel file into a termbase

I am trying to help someone I know import their excel file that is setup like this, into their termbase

Language One Language Two Language1 Definition Language2 Definition Source
wordOne|synonymOne translationOne|synonymTranslatedTwo Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Some website

I have been trying to help them, as the | pipe is a common delimiter anywhere else, but I cannot find a reliable or well documented source to do this.

Exactly what do I need to import this excel file and have the synonyms show up as separate words, rather than how it shows up now as an ENTIRE string including the pipe characters in their termbase? The poor documentation is making this extremely frustrating, since this to me does not seem outside of the norm for importing documents into pieces of software (Heck, I've written software that by default would work this way, that is less complex in it's scope compared to Trados).

We are able to import it, but like I said the ONLY issue is that it does not recognize the synonyms as separate words and simple shows word1|word2|word3 when viewing the specific entry in Multiterm.

I'm not sure if we need to use Glossary Conveter, or multiterm convert, or some other piece of software since trados seems to just like pumping out tools with no proper documentation.

Sorry if this is rude, but this is extremely frustrating for something that really shouldn't be.
