MultiTerm error: “E_NOINTERFACE – cannot convert COM object TermbaseRepositoryClass"

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a recurring issue when trying to open or use MultiTerm from Trados Studio. The following error appears:

In English:

“Cannot convert COM object ‘TermbaseRepositoryClass’ to interface ‘ITermbaseRepository’. QueryInterface failed with error 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE).”

My environment:

Windows 10

Trados Studio version 2022

MultiTerm version 2022

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Cinthia

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Cinthia,

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with MultiTerm. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the "E_NOINTERFACE" error:

**Step 1:** Ensure that both Trados Studio and MultiTerm are updated to the latest versions. You can check for updates in the 'Help' menu of each application.

**Step 2:** Repair your installations of Trados Studio and MultiTerm via the Control Panel. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find Trados Studio and MultiTerm, right-click on each, and select 'Repair'.

**Step 3:** If the issue persists, consider uninstalling both Trados Studio and MultiTerm. Make sure to back up your terminology databases and translation memories before doing this. After uninstalling, restart your computer and then reinstall the latest versions of both applications.

**Step 4:** Check for any pending updates for your Windows operating system and install them. Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise from outdated system files.

**Step 5:** If you are using a VPN, try disconnecting from it to see if that resolves the issue, as some VPNs can interfere with COM object interactions.

**Step 6:** As a last resort, you can use Trados FreshStart to reset your Trados Studio settings to default. However, please ensure you back up your settings and files first, as this tool will delete personal settings.

If you follow these steps and the issue still occurs, please provide any additional error messages or logs that may help in diagnosing the problem further.
