Multiterm bug? When importing terms the old terms are NOT overwritten...

I have a termbase, where one language has been imported without attributes, as I've overseen this when converting.

Now I try to import only this language, where the entries have all the necessary attributes. I wrote an import definition with "Synchronize on entry", chose the language in which the entries are, told MT to import if not present and overwrite if present. but to no avail... Tested twice, no change. What is wrong?

  • Hi Jerzy

"Synchronize on entry" only works if the termbase export file you are importing has been exported from the same termbase. If you import from another termbase or from a recreated version of the termbase, this will not work because the entry numbers do not match between the terms you import to and the file you import from.

I don't know how you created the file you try to import, but I would suggest that you import synchronizing on a term instead on the entry number.  Choose the language that more or less is your main language or the one that has the most entries.

    Good luck.

  • Hi Walter

    Nice 2meet U here.

I've done exactly as you say.

I just wanted to import a single language, the one with no attributes. And although I am sure all fields are exactly the same (as this was a part of 18 languages Excel and I only forget to apply attributes to one language in MT Convert) it did not work. However it did work, when I imported the properly converted Excel again. And this is strange - it should work also for a single language.

I was just not precise enough in my description.
