Multiterm - adding and deleting descriptive fields

Hello.

I have quite a complex template for my Multiterm database with lots of existing fields. Does anyone have the answer to these questions, please:

Multiterm

  1. How do I create a new TYPE of field within an existing template? I’m only able to use the existing descriptive fields.
  2. If I add a descriptive field and want to delete it, I can’t without deleting the entire entry, it seems. If I delete the text in the actual field, it comes back when I press enter. There must be a way to do that?

The 1) question - does that mean I change the structure of the entire database though? Is it not possible to add a new type of field for just one entry?

    Hi Eunike,

No it's not.  If you want to populate a term entry with some additional info in a new field then the field has to be present for all entries.  You don't have to populate all fields unless you made them mandatory, but they have to exist.

Why don't you just create a text field called Misc. or something and then you can use it for whatever notes you want to add whenever you feel like it's important?

    Regards
