I don't really understand what is happening. Studio "takes back" the space ... it alters the text you entered? Or are you speaking of how TM hits are used? Or machine translation? Maybe you can attach a few screenshots to help us understand?

Hi Daniel! What I mean is that Studio takes away the separator that I have added again when I confirm the segment.I then must go back and set the separator again.There must be some setting for this but can't find it. It is not MT and I cannot send screenshots because it is a Annual Report. Any idea where the settings for separators are?

Here's where you change the type of separator for the language pair in Project settings (you can also add a language pair directly to your profile via File>Options but it will be overruled by different project settings):

Here's where you change the type of separator for the individual translation memory, via the translation memory settings. These are accessible via the project settings to which you have the translation memory added (also available via the Translation Memories view, also can be added, again, via File>Options):
