Exclude tags from segment in XLIFF (segmentation hint: exclude)

Hi Community,

I would like to create settings using a sample XLIFF where the tags around the content are excluded from the segments.

So instead of this:

Screenshot of Trados Studio editor showing content with tags included in the segments, highlighted in purple.

The content would look like this in the editor, where the tags are excluded from the segments:

Screenshot of Trados Studio editor displaying content with tags excluded from the segments, appearing clean and without any highlights.

(The above I did by saving the content into a TXT file just for testing and then adding some regex rules in Studio 2021 to clean it up.)

However I cannot make it work with XLIFF. Whatever changes I make to embedded content processing (even if I deactivate it) in the Preview the content is still processed, the changes don't apply.

Can you please give me some hints as to what I'm doing wrong?
I can provide you with the sample file if needed.

Thank you!
Greta

  • That seems a bit excessive!  It's also not fully segmented, so I think the best solution I would be able to offer if you need to hide these tags is the following:

    1. copy source to target
    2. save the target file
    3. handle the target file using a mono lingual XML filetype where you have better control over the tag settings

We are working on a multilingual XML filetype at the moment and this would probably be able to make a better job of the file.  But that won't be available for a few weeks at least (via the AppStore).
