About Segmentation Hint Setup

I have a sample file like this:

<html>
<p>The below image shows that the p0_pblock has been adjusted so that its bottom edge is pulled higher by a half clock region to avoid the error. <span style="font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;">function</span> can be used again to confirm this.</p>
</html>

Ideally, it should be segmented into two:

The 1st segment being: The below image shows that the p0_pblock has been adjusted so that its bottom edge is pulled higher by a half clock region to avoid the error.

The 2nd segment being: <span style="font-family: &#39;courier new&#39;, courier, monospace;">function</span> can be used again to confirm this.

I setup the language rules to use the period (.) as the segmentation rule.

I setup <span> like this:

Screenshot of an 'Edit Rule' dialog box in Trados Studio with 'span' selected, showing properties and segmentation hint set to 'Include With Text'.

But then, Studio treated the whole paragraph as one segment,

Text editor displaying HTML code with 'span' tags and text content, with the 'span' element highlighted in blue.

It's always the same even if I changed the Segmentation hint to: Include, Include with Text or May Exclude.

But when I set the Segmentation hint to Exclude, Studio separated the paragraph into three segments instead.

The 1st segment being: The below image shows that the p0_pblock has been adjusted so that its bottom edge is pulled higher by a half clock region to avoid the error.

The 2nd segment being: function

The 3rd segment being: can be used again to confirm this.

Comparison view in Trados Studio showing segmentation of text into three parts due to 'Exclude' segmentation hint for 'span' tag.

Please suggest how I can get it right. By the way, I'm using Trados Studio 2024.

Thanks
