Lost Xliff file

Question

Hi all, 
 does anyone know whether SDL Trados Suite 2009 stores temporary files somewhere? My PC crashed and I am unable to find the Xliff file I translated. Strangely enough no segment was stored in the project I saved on my hard drive. Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Did you use a Project TM perhaps? The default project creation in Studio 2009 was to use a Project TM if I recall correctly. Perhaps you have a smaller TM on your hard drive somewhere, probably where you thought the project was stored, and this may contain your translations. Worth looking perhaps?

Possibly, but as this would be a temporary file it will have a *.tmp extension and a an unrecognisable name. So finding it would be very laborious indeed. It may also no longer be present as temp files are not retained. 
 
I think your best solution would be to open the source file again and pretranslate it from your translation memory. More recent versions of Studio have an AutoSave feature which would have been useful here.
