Empty tm's in sdl Studio 201 Freelance

Question

I think I have a problem with my tm's in SDL Studio Freelance 2017. I am a beginner so I have followed the tutorials and webinar Beginner's Guide. I translate unit for unit and confirm. But if I use the same tm on a similar file where I know there are identical 100% units, the tm does not show the translation. When this happened I checked my other tm's and for all the message was: No translation units to display. So am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with the settings/installation?

Perhaps you are using a Project TM when you create your projects. This would have the effect of creating a new TM for the project and the main TM you initially thought you were using will not be updated until you finalise the project or run an update task to update the main TM. You don't have to work this way, it's optional, but that would explain what you are seeing. 
 
Maybe you have not checked the update TM box?
