Automatic Updates - Update Error Message in Studio 2017

Question

Hello,

I am working with Studio 2017. It is set to Automatic updates. For the past two days, I keep getting update error messages every time I open Studio 2017: "Update failed. Information about the automatic update could not be downloaded. The update server may not be avalable....". I tried to repair Studio twice using the Control Panel, but it did not work. There are alternative instructions for downloading fixes for this type of error for Studio 20111, 2014 and 2015, but there are no files for 2017. Does anyone else have this problem or a workaround?

Perhaps the message is because Studio is unable to check if there is a new update... so maybe your firewall is blocking it somewhere?

My firewall had automatically disabled the Studio update feature (must have happened after installing an update). I had not changed any settings, and the settings for MultiTerm had not changed, either, so it didn't occur to me that it might be the firewall. After some digging, I found the corresponding setting, disabled it and then the Studio update feature worked again.
