F3 button for concordance search suddenly does not work anymore

Question

Hi all! 
 All of a sudden the F3 button does not work any more. Yesterday things were still fine and today nothing happens when I try to launch concordance search via F3. It works though via right click on the text but with my >30.000 word document this might take me 10 years to complete it.... ;-) 
 Any idea what happened or how I could fix this?

Hi Tatjana, 
 
When things just stop working for no apparent reason restarting Studio often cures the problem. So I'd try that first, and it it doesn't help then I'd go for a reset next. 
 
You may have to do a Studio reset and it might help. Just rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0

Go to File -> Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts and check, if the concordance search is still assigned to F3. Please also bear in mind, that F3 just starts concordance and searches either on source or target side, depending on which side it has been triggered. It is much better to user dedicated searches for Source concordance and Target concordance. The default shortcuts are (AFAIR) CTRL+F for source (regardless where it is triggered) or CTRL+SHIFT+F3 for target.

Maybe try using a different shortcut for concordance, so change it. If that works then perhaps you have some conflict with another software on your machine.

Hi Tatjana, 
 
I'd sort the shortcuts in Studio first and double check you have not got F3 assigned to something else. If you have then remove the one you don't want and try using F3 for concordance again. If you haven't then open your task manager and see whata other processes tou have running in the background and see if this helps you to identify what software is conflicting. Maybe you had an automatic update that introduced this clash without you knowing.
