Using docx between 2017, 2014 and 2014 - compatibility issue?

One of my customers is using 2017 in-house but some of their freelancers are working with 2011 and 2014.

When sending them packages with docx files some features (for ex. Quickinsert of quotation marks, italics, generating target files etc.) no longer work.
One of them couldn’t generate one return package for two files but had to generate two return packages, one for each file…

When using doc-files it seems to work. Will there be a patch file repairing this soon or do they have to update to 2017 immediately?

Also comments contained in a return package from a freelancer with an older Trados version appear in the wrong place or do not appear at all once the package was opened in Trados 2017…

Can anyone help?

  • Hi Laura,

The filetype differences is due to the older versions not being able to use the newer filetypes - so no saving as target, no quick inserts etc. There will be no patch for this, not least because these older versions are the ones that would need patching (if it was even reasonably possible) and they are no longer supported. Upgrade is the solution, or accept you have to translate the bilingual files without these additional features.

On the comments, and the package issue. Don't know what to say on this... if they can reproduce the issues it's probably best to log a support request so it can be investigated.

    Regards
