TARGET FILE(WORD) IS NOT AS IT WAS EXPECTED TO BE

I COMPLETED MY TRANSLATION TO A FILE WITHOUT HAVING REMOVING ANY TAGS BUT DELIVERING THEM IN THE TRANSLATION.

HOWEVER, WHEN I SAVED THE TARGET FILE THE IMAGE OF THE MAGAZINE (THE FILE WAS FROM A MAGAZINE) IS NOT CORRECT

IMAGES ARE MISSING, THE WORDS DON'T FIT IN THE BOXES, SOME WORDS ARE MISSING AND OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS.

I CAN CORRECT SOME WORDS BUT I CAN'T BRING THE IMAGES BACK

WHAT SHOULD I DO WHAT WENT WRONG ( I JUST COPY THE ORIGINAL PHRASES IN THE TRANSLATION WINDOW AND THEN EDIT THEM IN ORDER TO DELIVER THE TAGS - IS THERE THE MISTAKE?)

  • Hi Tonia,

You could try the process descried here using InFix:

    multifarious.filkin.com/.../

This does allow you to retain the PDF format quite nicely, but as always a lot depends on the quality of the original PDF.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul
My experience with InFix is good, but not that good, that I would recommend it to anyone. If you want to work with InFix, DTP knowledge is necessary - InFix isn't Word and uses different approach, much more similar to what is done in QuarkXPress or InDesign.
For "hard" PDFs a decent OCR software with manual action is required. For less "hard" PDFs quite often Acrobat (full version) produces the best results. Just use Export and save file in Word - what you get is usually workable without much preparation.
    Best regards, Jerzy
