PC - laptop sync with sdl 2015 Best Practices?

Dear All,

I am looking for the best way to sync PC and Laptop for sdl 2015.

I have the software installed on my c harddrive and the translated and to-be-translated files on D, and I also  have a back-up of my TMs and termbases (that are on c) on d (which also has a c and d drive).

What would be the easiest, most efficient and logical way to sync this with my Laptop?

Thanks for your input, Carola

  • Hi Paul

All works - OneDrive, Dropbox or whatever you want. The only condition is to keep all paths identical. If these are same in any PC you use, you can move projects, files and TMs/TBs between the computer as you wish.
We do that since Studio exists.
    Best regards, Jerzy

  • Hi Paul, hi Jerzy,

Thanks a lot for your thoughts. I will try to localize where I have so far put my TMs and TBs - sometimes I am just too creative in setting up new ways of storing my data - and then unfortunately forget about them ...

I will then impose a structure as suggested by Jerzy for TMs and TBs except that I do not need customer-specific  folders, but maybe this is food for thought at a later point in time (I organise my other project files with TO 3000 so no worries there) and sync it with SyncToys (the syncing tool I am familiar with) and of course let you know how it all went.

I am very reluctant to use cloud-based solutions (and for some customers simply can't  because of security reasons - and yes, I do use email encryption for them too), but will consider using an own NAS.

    Best, Carola
