SDL trados studio 2017 very, very slow

This version of Studio is very, very slow on my machine. I am using AVG Zen for internet security.

Studio hangs, doesn't respond and takes forever to confirm a segment.

Can anyone offer any advice on what I might try to make it perform better? I am running Windows 8.1 (64-bit) on a Lenovo laptop (roughly 18 months old).

Processor 2.19 GHz and RAM 12GB

Many thanks in advance,

Katherine

  • Hi Katherine,

This sounds like a typical AntiVirus definition issue.
Often certain files are caught up in the AV which can either slow down Studio or stop it working all together.
The best way to check is to close all other programs running on the system-(including Studio).
First check that you have installed the latest 8.1 updates.
Then deactivate AVG temporarily - (you SHOULD get a warning that you are not protected)- Now restart the computer (warning should still be in place).
    Now restart Studio-
you should see a remarkable improvement- if this is the case- simply add Studio to the AVG exceptions/exclusions folder-

    support.avg.com/SupportArticleView

Now reboot and reactivate AVG and all should be fine.

Please let me know how you get on.
