Suggestion: Option for selection in Fragment Match window

I would find it useful if I could select underlined text in the upper window of the Fragment Match window that resulted in showing only the Fragment Matches relevant to that part. In my field I'm usually presented with long sentences and quite often I'm presented with a long list of matches in the fragment window, which I find useful and which is the result of my settings and using a big TM. Narrowing this down a bit as I'm translating on a segment would make everything less cluttered and more efficient.

BTW, why does it not present the matches in the same order as they appear in the segment? The order seems to be a bit random. Probably the order in which they were found.

  • Hi Toon,

I agree. I have fragment matching turned on at the moment but generally find the long list useless the way it is currently set up.

Instead of hunting through the fragment list, I find it quicker to highlight a few words and do a concordance search.

Making the fragment window react to cursor placement or selection the way you suggest would make it more useful.

I would also find it very useful if a checkbox were added to the settings to automatically perform a fragment search every time a concordance search is performed (based on the same text used for the concordance search).

Or adding another shortcut key to perform a fragment search based on text selected in the main editor window. (Similar to concordance searching, which allows you to search either from the concordance window itself, or from the main editor window.)
