French accents & F-Keys shortcuts in SDL Trados 2014 with laptop keyboard

Hi all,

I just invested in a smaller laptop to be able to work while travelling. I use SDL Trados 2014.

But my laptop keyboard (Windows/Lenovo) has no F-keys. And I'm now faced with 2 rather annoying and counter-productive problems when using Trados.

1/ I can't use the usual ALT + code to generate accents.

In Words, the ALT + Code shortcut don't work either with that keyboard but I found a workaround involving alternative keys combinations (such as ALT + ' + the actual letter I need, CTRL + ' + letter, ALT + ***+ : + letter). With these alternative shortcuts, I can get about any accents in Words. But not in Trados....

Only one of them works in Trados. I tried to use the QuickInsert feature to change the pre-set keyboard combination of keys but it doesn't work. Any idea or solution?

2/ I can't use any of the usual F-key shortcut in Trados, which is rather annoying as I got used to a few of them.

I thought I could add new settings through the QuickInsert feature but I can't see how to add new combinations for non-listed features (for instance if I want to change the F3 shortcut to perform a concordance search on a term).

Any tip or advice would be welcome! Thanks!
