Update TMs appears stuck -- using no resources

Question

"Update main translation memories" hangs for minutes before finishing -- and the Resource Monitor shows essentially no resource usage for the Studio process. 
 If I then re-open the files and update the main TMs again, there is no long wait. 
 What is Studio doing if there is no resource usage during the first update? Is it locking itself out somehow when trying to update segments in the TM and then waiting until a time-out? 
 These are not big files.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you- only just seen your question. 
 
What is the size of the 'main translation memories'? 
 as very large TM's can of course slow down the update but this normally would be reflected in the resource usage. 
I suspect however this has something to do with an outdated Windows or the AV (AntiVirus) definitions. 
Please close ALL running programs then temporarily close down your AntiVirus program. 
Run a Windows full update 
Then restart Studio and try the TM update again-(without starting the AV)- if there is improved performance then Studio will need to be added to the AV exceptions. 
 
Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

Hi Bruce, 
 
I would add Studio completely as an exception in the AV as we dont yet know where the issue is coming form and it may not be the directories files itself. 
Something else I have thought of is whether you TM's are local or stored in the cloud/client server perhaps? 
As this can cause a time lag! 
One other issue would be if the clients TM's are read only. 
Are you able to provide me with a copy of the TM ( I understand if you cant) and i will see if i can reproduce the same thing.
